The State BJP today asked the National Conference leadership to clear its stand on Cow slaughtering and sale of beef in the State.
In a press statement issued here today, BJP State spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan said, “Party has made it loud and clear that it honours the verdict of Hon’ble High Court, wherein it has banned the killing of bovine animals and sale of beef in J&K and any move to lift the ban for the same will be opposed vigorously as the issue is directly concerned with the religious sentiments of Hindu Community, including Sikhs, Jains and Budhists”.
“The Court ban, infact, seeks strict enforcement of provisions of Ranbir Panel Code, which ban the beef and cow slaughter”, he mentioned.
Making a scathing attack on the National Conference leadership, Balbir Ram Rattan stated, ‘the people of the State, Jammu province in particular, has every right to know whether the NC opposes the cow slaughtering and sale of beef or it is against the recent verdict of the High Court’. He added that the silence on part of NC cannot mislead the people of a particular faith.
“NC Provincial President & MLA Nagrota, who always remain vocal in reacting and making statements on all the issues to remain in news and project himself as the ‘masiah’ of the people of Jammu, must make it clear whether he and his party supports or opposes the High Court verdict”, he mentioned.
Balbir asked the provincial president NC to come clean on the matter and what was their stand during their tenure in successive Govts on the said issue.
Balbir said that the issue is directly related to the sentiments of a large population of the State and instead of pleasing the Kashmiri leadership, the NC leader from Jammu province should understand that the people cannot be misled by just making statements on general issues and keeping stoic silence on the important issues like the one related to killing of bovine animals and sale of beef.
“People of Nagrota Constituency expected their MLA to support the ban on cow slaughter and sale of beef as he also represents the Hindu community whose sentiments are directly linked with this issue”, he concluded.
