On May 10, 2013 Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah lavished praise on Parvez Rasool for making an impressive debut in the cash-rich Indian Premier League.
“Well done Parvez Rasool. Great name for your first scalp,” the CM wrote on his twitter page referring to Rasool’s maiden IPL scalp Jacques Kallis during Pune Warriors’ match against Kolkata Knight Riders.
Rasool bowled four tight overs off-breaks as he had impressive figures of 1/23 to show for his efforts.
“Finally Parvez Rasool gets a game in the 2013 IPL. Come on Parvez make us proud. Good luck,” the Chief minister had tweeted before the start of play.
Then On July 5, 2013
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah called on promising all-rounder Parvez Rasool to make the state proud after he became the first cricketer from the valley to be selected in the Indian cricket team for the upcoming ODI tour of Zimbabwe.
Abdullah congratulated Rasool on his selection in the 15-member Indian squad for the five-match ODI series against Zimbabwe.
“Have heard the great news about Parvez Rasool being selected to play for India against Zimbabwe. Well deserved selection. Make us proud now,” the Jammu and Kashmir CM wrote on his twitter page.
On July 6 , 2013
Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra congratulated all-rounder Parvez Rasool on his selection in the Indian team.
“The selection of Rasool, a resident of Bijbehara in south Kashmir, in Team India would not only contribute to promote cricket in the state but also inspire and encourage many young cricketers and other sports persons to earn laurels for the state,” Vohra said in his message in Srinagar.
The Governor said youths of the state are highly talented and given the enabling opportunities they can excel in sports, academics and all other arenas of human endeavour.
The Governor has written to Rasool and invited him for a visit to the Raj Bhavan.
Ironically, two days have passed when another young player from Jammu Shubham Khajuria was selected in the Under 19 Indian team for Srilankan tour, neither the Chief Minister nor the state Governor NN Vohra has issued any statement congratulating him on his achievement.
The well wishers of Shubham may have been visiting him and greeting him on his achievement but deep inside they are also raising the question marks over the muted silence of the Chief Minister and asking questions, Why is Omar Abdullah shying away from congratulating Shubham and why till date even the office of the Governor has not issued any statement congratulating him.
