When Kishtwar was burning Omar was busy Squabbling on twitter

The picturesque Kishtwar district headquarters, famous for producing saffron, witnessed worst kind of mayhem that too on the occasion of EID as one civilian lost his life and over 30 others were injured.

kishtwar clashMore than 100 shops, over 30 vehicles, several prime properties, petrol pump, gas agency office were also ransacked and torched  by the rioters after attending EID prayers.

Interestingly, when all this was happening the state Home Minister Sajjad Ahamd Kitchloo too was present in the district headquarters.

He could not gather enough courage to be with his people. Kitchloo is not only the  state Home Minister but he is a local MLA of the area.

He commands respect of the  people of the area and had he adopted pro active approach and came on to the streets in the first hour to appeal to people who were indulging in rioting the situation would not have gone from bad to worse. Ironically, he could not gather enough courage and failed to lead from the front and failed his constituency people.

In the late evening the state govt shunted Deputy Commissioner Saleem Mohammad and SP kishtwar Dr Sunil Gupta but the question is as head of the department if Sajjad Kitchloo could not control the situation how DC and SP were to be held responsible for their acts of commissions and omissions.

As local reports during the day revealed that despite clamping down curfew in Kishtwar the district authorities failed to implement the curfew. At the same time the question should be asked when the MOS Home himself failed to assess the situation and take corrective measures to control the law and order situation why he should not be held responsible and held accountable for the loss of life and property of the local people.

In the late evening when the state govt organised an all party meeting and appealed for peace and calm. The state BJP leaders also held Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo responsible for the law and order situation and demanded his ouster without any waste of time.

omar-sushma tweet fight

It remains to be seen whether the state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah would continue to fight with central leaders on the twitter or he too would spare time from his schedule and do some soul searching why the social fabric of the society which has not witnessed any violence in the past was allowed to be disturbed at the behest of handful of miscreeants who had gone  out to offer prayers with Pakistani flags tucked under their clothes.
