Udhampur Votes: Polling begins for Udhampur-Kathua-Doda Lok Sabha Seat

Voter turnout in Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat till 9am:

Udhampur – 9.76%
Kathua – 11.99%
Reasi – 14.56%
Doda – 8.85%
Kishtwar – 6.25%
Ramban – 10.84%

India is witnessing elections in the maximum number of seats in a single phase today as polling is going on in 121 seats across 12 states.

Of the total seats, Congress has 36 seats while its main challenger BJP has 40 seats.

Polling will take place in 28 seats in Karnataka, followed by Rajasthan (20), Maharashtra (19), Uttar Pradesh and Odisha (11 each), Madhya Pradesh (10), Bihar (7), Jharkhand (6), West Bengal (4), Chhattisgarh (3), Jammu and Kashmir and Manipur (1 each).

Over 14.6 lakh voters will decide the fate of Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today in Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat.

Azad is being challenged by BJP’s Dr Jitendra Singh. A total number of 13 candidates including Prof Bhim Singh of Panthers Party, Arshid Mailk of PDP and JKDF candidate Anil Gupta are in the fray.

To ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the polling the election commission of India has set up 2051 polling stations across six districts of Jammu region.  

Elaborate security arrangements have been made by the election commission to ensure peaceful conduct of the polling.
The polling stations across Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Reasi, Udhampur and Kathua have been handed over to the security personnel in advance in vulnerable areas.
