Major fire in Civil Secretariat Srinagar Exposes the preparedness of the Disaster Management Cell

The fire incident inside the civil secretariat complex on Thursday morning in Srinagar has exposed the preparedness of the Disaster management cell in the civil secretariat complex as crucial first hour was lost in the absence of well equipped fire tender at the site of fire accident. According to eye witness reports and versions of the state govt employees the fire which started anytime between 8.30-9.00 a.m could not be contained as late as 10.26 when the fire tenders arrived on the scene and took control of the situation. Srinagar terror Attack: Omar expressed grief over the killing of Jawans

In a major strike on the eve of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit, terrorists opened fire on Monday at an Army convoy at Hyderpora bypass on the outskirts of the city, killing five Jawans and injuring seven others.   Militants attacked the convoy at Hyderpora bypass on the Airport-Lal Chowk road, outside a private hospital this evening, the second major strike in three days.  Omar Abdullah today expressed grief over the killing of Jawans in a terrorist attack, saying such strikes were aimed at restoring the shattered morale of the terrorists.
