Lance Naik Feroze Khan from Hyderabad martyred in Poonch

A Lance Naik of the Indian army deployed along the line of control was killed in intense exchange of firing  in Hamirpur sector of Poonch on Tuesday evening. Earlier, one BSF jawan was seriously injured in the sniping  incident along the International border in Samba  on Monday. According to official sources, six other jawans of the Indian army were also injured as they all received splinter injuries in the forward area. Pakistan nearing 50 ceasefire violations in last one month

Boy injured in Pak firing

A minor boy was critically injured in the ‘unprovoked’ firing from across the line of control on Tuesday while a house in village Shahpur was partially damage spreading panic in the area. The total number of ceasefire violations in the last one month is nearing 50 in Poonch district. Overall the figure has crossed record 100 mark ever since the ceasefire agreement was signed in November 2003 between India and Pakistan. According to reports, in the seven hour long firing in the forward area livestock of local villagers bore the maximum brunt of firing while villagers panicked and took shelter in the safer places for most part of the day. Second BAT team attack on forward Indian Post foiled by alert BSF Jawans

Barely hours after Pakistan’s National Assembly passed an anti India resolution a Border Action team of Pak army once again attempted to attack one of the forward Indian posts in the Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch late Tuesday night. According to official sources, alert BSF jawans late Tuesday night foiled an attempt by a Pakistani Border Action Team (BAT) to attack a forward post along the Line of Control in Poonch. Pak troops violate Ceasefire again, fired at Indian Soldiers

Pakistani troops on Monday fired at Indian soldiers while they were trying to rescue two porters who were wounded in twin blasts along the LoC in Poonch district. The blasts occurred when some porters were carrying supplies from one army post to another in Sabzian-Mandi belt along the LoC at around 8 am, an army officer said. When soldiers rushed to the scene to rescue the injured porters, Pakistani troops fired on them, he said.   “Our troops managed to shift one of the two porters to a nearby hospital while the other one is still lying there,” the officer said. Pak Infiltrator blown into Pieces, only head and leg recovered by the Army near LoC

An unidentified infiltrator was killed  near the line of control in Soujian sector of Poonch in the wee hours of Monday after he stepped on to the landmine and was blown in to pieces. The impact of the landmine planted by the Indian troopers in the area was so powerful that the body of the infiltrator was blown in to pieces under the impact of the blast. According to official sources the incident took place around 4.30 a.m in Soujian sector of Poonch. Gujjars, Bakerwals start seasonal migration in J&K

Gujjars and Bakerwals nomadic tribes have begun their bi-annual seasonal migration to the upper reaches of Shivalik, Perpanchal and Trikuta Hills of the Himalayas a few days ahead of their routine schedule due to unusual rise in the daily temperature in the northern States, including Jammu and Kashmir.  A handout by the Tribal Research And Cultural Foundation, an organisation working for the Gujjars, has impressed upon various organisations working for tribals in the State to mobilise resources for providing necessary logistics to migratory tribes.
