Terror threat looms large over Amarnath Yatra?

Omar Abdullah has done it again. A day after Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde made it clear that the annual Amarnath pilgrimage  starting from June 28 is facing a threat from militants Omar on Thursday claimed the headlines ‘Amarnath Yatra attack feared‘ are a gross exaggeration. Interestingly, before Union Home Minister it was Lt Gen KT Parnaik, GOC-IN-C of Northern Command headquarters who had claimed that intelligence agencies have received inputs that some  of the militant groups were planning to disrupt the yatra. Why NC leaders are not opening their eyes and paying attention to Army’s View point on AFSPA

Barely 24 hours after GOC-IN-C of Northern Command Lt Gen KT Parnaik made it clear that in view of the prevailing ‘fragile’ peace in the state of Jammu and Kashmir it would not be appropriate to disempower the armed forces by partially revoking the Armed Forces Special Powers Act. Two senior National Conference  leaders including one Member Parliament  have once again labeled Army as the biggest stumbling block in the path of revocation of AFSPA from the peaceful districts of the state. ‘Earthquake Tourism’ is fine but what happened to the distribution of relief material to the needy and poor in Doda


Between May 1 and June 9 a large army of political leaders from both the centre and the state have visited the quake hit areas of erstwhile Doda district but till date the poor and the needy survivors are waiting for the distribution of relief material. An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale jolted the Doda region in  which 3 people were killed, over 70 were injured  and at least over 70,000 structures including large number of govt school buildings and health centres suffered damages. Ironically, till date the state and the centre govt have failed to reach out to the people on ground zero. The cyber cell of the Jammu and Kashmir police has been playing a pro active role in booking those spreading hatred and rumours through social networking sites especially in Kashmir valley.But the same cyber cell wing of the state police has been caught napping  when it comes to tracking down those running a fake face book account in the name of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.. Omar yet to hold monthly Cabinet meeting in any Remote District of Jammu Division

Ten months ago Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had proudly announced on the micro blogging site that he will take his cabinet to Tangdhar in North Kashmir. “This week I take the Cabinet to Tangdar in North Kashmir. Once a month we will meet in a remote part of the state. Gurez, Machil and Keran”,Omar had twitted on May 26,2012.
