Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said ruling PDP leaders were “overtly campaigning” for BJP candidates in Ladakh ahead of the hill council polls, despite the “political suppression of the State” by the national party. “Today PDP is campaigning more for BJP than its own candidates here. Almost all their Ministers are here and their only appeal to the people is to vote for anyone but NC. Baramulla recorded 39.6 per cent polling, Ladakh registered 65%


Over 43 per cent of 13.57 lakh voters cast their votes in the last leg of the five-phased polls today in J&K where 19 candidates are in the fray for the two Lok Sabha seats of Baramulla and Ladakh. Baramulla constituency, from where National Conference sitting MP Sharief-ud-din Shariq is locked in multi-cornered contest, recorded 39.6 per cent polling while Ladakh registered a poll turn out of 65 per cent to choose their representative among the four candidates in the fray. The Government today signed an MoU with the Ministry for New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India, for implementation of solar power projects of the capacity of 7,500 MW. The agreement was signed at a high-level meeting of the senior officers of the State Government and MNRE, chaired by the Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Farooq Abdullah here today.
