Understanding the problem of Kashmir is no less than rocket-science today. Whatever steps India took right since the signing of Instrument of Accession to the signing of Indira-Sheikh Accord and even till date, “ambiguities” were always an inherent part of them. Some ambiguities were incorporated deliberately while others were the result of serious mistakes (read ‘blunders’). The epicenter of this whole turmoil that we see today is the sign-of-interrogation (?) on the validity of “accession”, whether it was conditional and revocable or unconditional and irrevocable. Indian Army to continue to test its Big Guns in Tosha Maidan

With majority of stake holders up in arms against the proposal of the Indian army seeking re-notification of Central Kashmir’s biggest meadow–Tosha Maidan for 20 years–Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Tuesday constituted a high powered committee under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to re-examine the short term extension of the ranges while also considering alternate locations. 5125 Rape cases registered in J&K since 1989

J&K Home ministry on Tuesday informed the state legislature a total number of 5125 cases of rapes – 2601 in Kashmir and 2524 in Jammu,were registered between 1989 and 2013.  In the same period, 14953 cases of molestations were registered – 12215 in Kashmir and 2738 in Jammu province. While security forces have 70 rape cases (41 in Kashmir and 29 in Jammu), it has 55 cases of molestation (44 in Kashmir and 11 in Jammu). Police has 59 rape cases against its personnel (15 in Kashmir and 44 in Jammu) and 34 in molestation cases (12 in Kashmir and 22 in Jammu). UDAAN fails to take off, Corporates tell Govt. Kashmiri youth unwilling to work outside the valley

‘UDAAN’ — One of the most ambitious projects of the Union govt aimed at giving flight to the dreams of Kashmiri youth is facing hiccups. 1000 crore project was designed by the UPA govt to provide employment opportunities to Kashmiri youth in the corporate sector. As many as 37 corporates including Tata Motors, Wipro, Yes Bank, HCL, NTPC, BHEL, ONGC, TCS, Bajaj, SREI and Canara Bank were roped in by the govt for project  ‘Udaan’. Omar trying to keep kashmiri pandit migrants in good humour

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has finally realised the importance of keeping migrant Kashmiri pandits in good humour. Chairing a meeting of the Apex Advisory committee for migrants Omar on Friday  directed the Power Development Department for providing free electric supply to the inmates of Jagti township and other migrant camps up to the maximum of 100 units per month without any consideration of the inmate being employee or not. He also directed the PDD Department to maintain the power supply system in the township. This was not the only gesture.
