Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet today passed a resolution condemning the Udhampur petrol bomb attack on a truck that led to the death of a conductor and lauded the people of the state for maintaining peace and calm. Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, who chaired the Cabinet meeting here, moved the resolution condemning the October 9 incident at Shiv Nagar in Udhampur district that left two truckers severely injured. Zahid, one of the injured, succumbed to injuries at a Delhi hospital yesterday and was laid to rest today in his native Batengoo. “The Cabinet adopted the resolution in one voice. Over 1 lakh pilgrims visit Vaishnodevi during Navratras

Over one lakh pilgrims have visited Katra and paid obeisance at the cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi during the ongoing festival of navratras. Around 1,05,801 pilgrims visited the Katra and paid obeisance at Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine during the Navratras, Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) officials said. On the fourth day of the Navratra festival 2015 yesterday, about 28,838 yatris visited Katra and paid obeisance at the Shrine, according to the Yatra registration counter (YRC) Katra, the officials said. Around 14,000 more pilgrims paid reverence on the third day of the Navratras at the pilgrimage. The Home Ministry on Monday sought a report from the Jammu and Kashmir government on the state High Court’s order that Article 370, which grants special status to the state, is beyond amendment, repeal or abrogation. In a communication, the Home Ministry sought a copy of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court order from the state government as early as possible, explaining the grounds in which the order was issued, official sources said. The state law department is expected to forward the copy of the High Court ruling to the central government. Jammu and Kashmir High Court has ruled that Article 370, granting special status to the state, has assumed place of permanence in the Constitution and the feature is beyond amendment, repeal or abrogation.
