Revoke ‘SMS Ban’ before ‘AFSPA’

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah keeps talking  about the removal of Armed Forces Special Power Act from  Jammu and Kashmir but remains mum on the issue of SMS Ban . Tech Savvy Omar Abdullah has failed to computerize land records in 257 Niabats

Tech savvy Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has failed to kick start the gigantic task of computerization of land records despite  having money in his kitty.The recent CAG report tabled in the state assembly has revealed that even after receiving liberal funding  to the tune of Rs 20.56 crore from the central government  for setting up computer centres for computerization of land records in 257 Niabats (Sub Tehsils) of the state the government has failed to implement the scheme. J&K ERA commences work on Rs. 26.75 crores State of Art Multilevel car parking facility in Srinagar

Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency (J&K ERA) today started work on the construction of multilevel mechanized car parking facility in Srinagar city at Lal Chowk (KMDA Adda).             Work on the state of art multilevel car parking facility which is first of its kind in the State was today started in presence of Chief Executive Officer, J&K ERA, Mr. Saurabh Bhagat. Champions Trophy Probables: Sehwag dropped; Parvez Rasool, Ishwar Pandey, Unmukt Chand in

The selection committee on Saturday dropped Virender Sehwag and Harbhajan Singh from the list of 30-member probables for the ICC Champions Trophy. Left-arm seamer Zaheer Khan has also been left out. Jammu and Kashmir allrounder Parvez Rasool,Delhi batsman Unmukt Chand and Madhya Pradesh medium pacer Ishwar Pandet have been named among the probables for the Champions trophy to be held in England after the ongoing Indian Premier League.

62% Government buildings,37% Private buildings vacated by Army/Para Military forces

Indian army and paramilitary forces have vacated 62 per cent government buildings and 37 per cent private buildings in Jammu and Kashmir in the recent years. According to official sources, a total number of 766 Government buildings were under the occupation of Paramilitary forces/Army out of which 480 buildings stand vacated,while 206 Government buildings under the occupation of Paramilitary forces and 80 buildings under the occupation of Army.   Similarly out of 2445 private buildings  under the occupation of Paramilitary forces/Army 919 buildings stand vacated. SKUAST failed to Install Research equipment worth Crores: CAG

The Comptroller and Auditor Genera(CAG)l of India in its latest report has exposed the inefficient working of the authorities at the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology(SKUAST),Jammu.   According to the CAG report, SKUAST procured various high-tech equipment at a whopping cost of 6.12 crore between 2005-2008 for use by different departments of the university.   The equipment were to be used for facilitating research and for imparting practical trainings to students undergoing various courses in the university.   During the audit scrutiny of records of the university it was revealed that after the receipt of 18 equipment no serious efforts were made by the University authorities to install and make them functional with the result that all the …

Traffic signal lights functional in Jammu city: Sadhotra

Replying to a Calling Attention Notice, by Mr. Vijay Bakaya, Minister for Planning and Development, Labour and Employment, Mr. Ajay Sadhotra, on behalf of Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies Minister informed the House that in Jammu city 30 traffic signal lights have been installed and all are working smoothly. He said, however, Traffic Police Department has put a few lights on blinker mode in order to arrive at a logical decision with regards to shifting of some lights.
