If July 13 can be celebrated as martyr’s day in Kashmir, why can’t accession day be declared as State holiday ?

If July 13 is celebrated each year as Martyrs Day only across parts of Kashmir the people belonging to Jammu division have now started raising the demand, in one voice, for announcing the October 26, Accession day, as state holiday. At present the coalition government headed by National Conference  Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is not paying any attention to the campaign but in the days to come the demand may gather momentum in the run up to the Assembly polls where more and more Jammu based political parties, social organisations and activists are expected to join hands and intensify their campaign. Omar orders judicial enquiry into Kishtwar Violence

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said the state government has decided to order a judicial inquiry into the communal clashes in Kishtwar district that left two persons dead and 20 others injured. “In order to establish the truth behind the Kishtwar violence and what followed, the State Government has decided to order a Judicial inquiry,” Omar tweeted. Ban on SMS ordered by J&K Government: BSNL replied to SHRC

In reply to the notice sent by the State Human Rights Commission in the complaint filed by HR activist Deepak Sharma regarding revocation of Ban on SMS services in the state, the central Government owned BSNL has submitted that the Ban on SMS services was ordered by the Home department of J&K Government. The SHRC in its communication no. SHRC/71-J of 2013/860 dated 29/06/2013 has sent notices to the Ministry of Telecommunication, Commissioner Secretary Home,J&K Govt. and Chief General Managaer BSNL to furnish report in the matter and the case was listed before single bench on 16/07/2013. J&K: Planning Commission commits highest ever Central Assistance of ₹ 11,707 crores

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah led State team comprising Minister for Finance, Minister for Planning,  MoS Planning, Economic Advisor, Chief Secretary and various  senior officers met  Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission of India to hold the final round of discussions on the State’s Annual Plan for the current financial year (2013-14) today.
