NC releases list of 32 candidates
While announcing the list of 32 candidates for the forthcoming Assembly polls in the state the National Conference leaders have tactfully avoided making public key constituencies from where the father son duo of Omar Abdullah and Dr Farooq Abdullah are most likely to contest the polls.
If inside reports are to be believed and as per the latest political grapevine the National Conference leadership is keen on finalising the constituencies for Omar and Dr Farooq Abdullah after careful deliberations at the party level.
After facing drubbing at the hands of the PDP in Kashmir valley during the Lok Sabha polls the party leaders are wary of fielding Omar Abdullah and Dr Farooq Abdullah without understanding the changing poll dynamics at the ground level. The traditional seats of Ganderbal are still considered safe bet for one of the candidates and the party may field another candidate from Sonwar Assembly seat. The party is also considering names of probable candidates for the Nagrota Assembly segment.
NC provincial President Jammu region DS Rana was working hard for a long time to represent this seat but till the time the formal announcement is made rumor mills are agog with names of aspirants from various other seats. Looking at the list of 32 names it becomes clear the NC leadership was playing safe and not willing to experiment with the fresh faces in the wake of strong opposition from the PDP.
Nasir Aslam Wani has been fielded from Amira Kadal while all other senior cabinet ministers of the party have been given the mandate by the party leadership to contest from their respective constituencies.
