I am not overstaying in an official bungalow in Delhi: Omar

After staying away from the world of twitter for four long days Omar Abdullah returned on his twitter time line with a bang.

On Friday Omar wrote seven (7) tweets on two different subjects clearly signaling he may be staying away from the heat of politics but was closely tracking the developments on ground zero.

Omar began tweeting early in the day in response to the news reports which claimed that voters were thrashed by unidentified people in different parts of North Kashmir .

“First things first – the gangs moving around trying to terrorise those who voted will not be tolerated”, Omar wrote in his first tweet.

He followed it with another tweet claiming,”Can’t have freedom to choose not to vote without allowing allowing people who want to vote a similar choice”.

Sounding a strict word of caution Omar finally claimed, “Action will be taken against anyone found trying to terrorise voters & the police have been instructed accordingly”

Responding to another burning issue of the day Omar Abdullah Friday also clarified that he was not overstaying in an official bungalow in the national capital. Before publishing the story the news paper should have verified the facts Omar wrote on the micro blogging site.

According to a news report published in a national daily along with 22 former Union Ministers two sitting Chief Ministers including Omar Abdullah was over staying in an official bungalow allotted to him on 7 Akbar Road.

As per the rule book“ Only a Union minister or an MP is allowed to have an official residence in New Delhi”.

According to the news report a Ministerial Bungalow stand allotted in the name of Omar Abdullah but Omar while explaining his position wrote on the social networking site, “7 Akbar road house is allotted to Ghulam Nabi Azad”

“This has been since 2009 & so neither of us is over staying or violating any guidelines regarding our accommodation.” He also explained, “In his capacity as Union Minister & the JK CM has a bungalow on South Avenue Lane. We have swooped occupancy for our convenience.”

It would have been correct for the publication to verify the facts before printing a story, he added.
