Pakistan Election Commission rejected the nomination papers of former president Pervez Musharraf, who returned to Pakistan last March after a four year self-imposed exile(in London and Dubai) to take part in the upcoming General Elections, despite death threats from Pakistani Taliban.

Rival candidate Javed Kasuri had raised six objections against Musharraf’s candidature, under Article 62, 63 of the Constitution.

Mohammad Saleem, returning officer, accepted the objections and rejected Musharraf’s nomination paper.

Musharraf is now leading his own political party, the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), which submitted his nomination forms for a national assembly seat in the northern Chitral district. Musharraf had also planned to stand on more than one seat including one in Karachi.
