Chander Parkash our own ‘son of soil’ who hails from Udhampur has added another feather to his cap and brought laurels to Jammu and Kashmir by participating in an international sculpture symposium held in Germany from 18th august to 8th September where he was selected among 140 entries from 24 countries .
He has also been selected in international sculpture symposium to be held in France and Costa Rica.
Chander Prakash is preparing to go to Costa Rica where he has been invited by the government of Costa Rica.
The work he did in Germany has got many ethnic visual elements of Jammu, the stylization of the sculpture reflecting Dogra imagery.
On the question of about the things, ideas or visual elements he usually had in his mind while making a new sculpture or a work of art, he replied proudly that folklores of Jammu, the cultural tradition of Jammu and visual elements of Jammu always inspired him as the cultural tradition of Jammu is very rich .
He also added that it is always on his mind to portray the tradition of Jammu through his sculptures.
Today Chander’s works is on display worldwide not only in India.
