Republic Day celebrated with patriotic enthusiasm in Reasi

The main function was held at Sports Stadium Reasi, where Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora hoisted the National tricolor and took salute at the parade comprising 42 contingents drawn from CRPF, District Police, Police Training Centre, Talwara, NCC and tiny platoons from various Government and Private schools. The parade was followed by tableaux depicting importance of elections and voting.

While addressing the gathering, Jora underscored the importance of this historical Day on which our country turned in to a Sovereign Democratic Republic, one of the best systems of governance prevailing in the world, adding that it was on this day in 1950 that the constitution of India came into existence which provides equal rights of justice and development to all the citizens of the country irrespective of religion, Caste, creed and colour.

The Minister also recalled the sacrifices of the great martyrs like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev and others freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru who offered supreme sacrifices to get independence from the slavery of British rulers. He said it was responsibility of all the citizens to safeguard and uphold the hard won independence by defeating the nefarious designs of the anti-national elements.

Jora also listed the achievements registered in Reasi district during the last five years of the present government, adding that the State has witnessed massive development in all sectors of life.

Present on the occasion were Legislators, Baldev Raj Sharma, Jugal Kishor Sharma and DC Reasi, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, SSP Reasi Vivek Gupta, senior officers from Army, Civil Admiration and police

At Katra, CEO SMVDSB, Dr M K Bhandari hoisted the Tricolour Similar functions held at Mahore, Pouni and Arnas.
