Ramban Firing Incident: Is CM doing Justice with the Bereaved Family?

After the four civilians were killed and 42 others were injured in the Ramban firing on July 18, 2013 the state government had announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia relief to the next of kin.Besides, the state cabinet had also ordered appointment of one member from each bereaved family in government service on compassionate grounds.ramban-firing

In contrast on Tuesday when one of injured resident of Rajouri, undergoing treatment in SKIMS succumbed to his critical injuries the state chief minister Omar Abdullah released ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh in favor of the next of kin of the deceased as an immediate relief.

In his condolence message the Chief Minister expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Ravi Kant S/o Durga Das, resident of Sunderbani. Ravi Kant had sustained injuries during protests in the aftermath of civilian killings in Ramban on the Jammu Srinagar National Highway. After he received serious head injury during stone pelting he was rushed to the SKIMS where he succumbed to his injuries.
