Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Monday expressed deep shock and grief over the death of 21 persons in a bus accident in Udhampur district.
“Disturbing news from J&K. Bus accident in Udhampur has saddened me. My thoughts are with families of the deceased. Prayers with the injured. I have asked my ministerial colleague Dr. Jitendra Singh ji to stay in touch with authorities & ensure timely assistance.”, PM Modi tweeted.
The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee also condoled the loss of lives.
In his message to Shri N.N. Vohra, the Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, the President has said “I am saddened to learn that a bus carrying passengers met with an accident today in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir leading to the loss of lives and injury to many. I understand relief operations are currently underway.
I call upon the State Government and other agencies to provide all possible aid to the bereaved families who have lost their near and dear ones as well as medical assistance to the injured.
Please convey my heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. I also wish speedy recovery to the injured persons”.
In a condolence message, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed conveyed sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls, an official spokesman said.
He said the chief minister wished speedy recovery to the injured passengers.
Sayeed directed Divisional Commissioner, Jammu to ensure that best possible medical treatment is extended to the injured, the spokesman said.
Twenty one people died and at least 30 others were injured, six of them critically, when a passenger bus this morning skidded off the road and rolled down into the 300 feet deep gorge near marothi in Latti area of Udhampur district.
