Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari today laid the foundation stone for the construction of two-lane bridge over river Ravi in Keerian-Gandial area of district Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion, the Union Minister said that BJP led NDA government in the Centre is committed to provide better road connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir and a number of initiatives have already been taken in this direction.
The 1210 m long bridge along with 7.5 km long approach road is being constructed by the Union Ministry of Transport and Highways at an estimated cost of Rs 160 crore under Inter State Connectivity programme.
The bridge would provide an alternative surface link between Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. MoS, PMO and Udhampur-Kathua MP Dr. Jitendra Singh alongwith Kathua MLA were also present on the occasion.
