Minority community in Kishtwar demand CBI probe in Kishtwar violence, shifting of police officers

The members of the minority community under the banner of Sanatan Dharam Sabha Monday once again demanded thorough CBI probe in to incidents preceding the Kishtwar violence on August 9.

Earlier, a similar demand was raised before the four member ministerial panel by the members of the minority community.

During the five hour long marathon meeting  in curfew bound Kishtwar the members of the minority community also demanded an immediate relief of 20-30 lakh pending actual loss assessment for those businessmen whose shops were looted/burnt down in the violence.

Claiming that the violence witnessed on August 9 was one-sided, they also demanded that none from the minority community member should be arrested.

The members of the minority community during their deliberations with the all-party delegation reiterated all their demands which they had already projected with the ministerial delegation.

A high level delegation earlier arrived in curfew bound Kishtwar town to assess the situation arisen due to recent disturbances in the region.

The delegation comprised MLA, BJP, Ashok Khajuria, Prof. Nirmal Singh (BJP), President BSP, Tulsi Dass Langeh and State Treasurer BSP, Rattan Kumar Bhagat, President, Shiromani Akali Dal, S.H.S Raina, Spokesmen person and General  Secy  (NCP), R.S  Beloria, Secretary Jammu Region, CPM, Sham Parsad Kesar, Provincial President, People Democratic Front, Tej Ram Dogra, MLC and Provincial President NC, Devinder Singh Rana, MLA and Senior Vice President, NC, S S Slathia, President, Samajwadi Party, Sheikh Abdul Rehman, Ex-MP, Indian National Congress, Janak Raj Gupta, Thakur Singh (Congress) and MLA, JKNPP, Balwant Singh Mankotia.   

Worthwhile to mention here that Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah had convened a meeting of  all major political parties on August 12, 2013 at Jammu in which leaders of the INC, NC, PDP, BJP, NCP, CPI(M), PDF, Shiromani Akali Dal and Samajwadi Party participated. All of them unanimously decided in the meeting that an all party delegation will visit Kishtwar to assess the situation.

Accordingly, Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Mr. Shantmanu conveyed to all the major political party leaders to proceed to Kishtwar on 19.08.2013 at 08.00 a.m. from Jammu. The all party delegation is scheduled to meet the members of the majority community on Tuesday at 9.30 a.m in the second leg of the meeting.
