The cyber cell of the Jammu and Kashmir police has been playing a pro active role in booking those spreading hatred and rumours through social networking sites especially in Kashmir valley. But the same cyber cell wing of the state police has been caught napping when it comes to tracking down those running a fake face book account in the name of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah..
On Tuesday, the facebook page sent ripples in the corridors of power when a fresh message,” While I welcome that Soz had asked for revocation of AFSPA, I want to remind people that Soz earlier had publicly said that the law should not be revoked” was uploaded on the same page.
Minutes later when political secretary to Chief Minister, Tanvir Sadiq was asked to verify the authenticity of the comments posted on the facebook account of Omar Abdullah Sadiq flatly denied the fact that Chief Minister ever used the page to post comments. “There is no such page” Sadiq replied in response to a SMS message.
Now the question arises if the page is not an authenticated one why and how it has been allowed to sail smoothly in the virtual world of web and why the cyber cell of the state police has failed to take appropriate action against the promoters of the fake facebook account for misusing the name of pictures of Chief Minister. Interestingly, variety of archive pictures posted on the social networking page and frequency of posts a\on variety of topical subjects also raises a question mark on the administrator of the page as the one who is running the show from behind the curtains must be enjoying some kind of patronage of the party leaders or has been given go ahead to carry on the propaganda in the name of Chief Minister with tacit support of the state police
