Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board authorities readying new helipad for pilgrims


Mata Vaishno Devi bound pilgrims would soon get the option of choosing their aerial route to reach Mata Vaishno Devi bhawan. On Friday the shrine board authorities conducted a trial run by landing helicopters at the newly constructed  helipad near Panchhi view point enroute new yatra track.

The shrine board authorities have not announced any formal date of launch of services on the new route pending formal clearance from the DGCA for starting the heli services on the new route.

The new helipad at Panchi Point near Bhawan shrine is expected to increase the number of people buying tickets to travel from Katra to the temple and back

Presently, there are two private companies operating from Katra to Sanjichat, two kilometers from Bhawan. The new helipad is located at a distance of about one kilometer from the temple.

About 800 to 1000 Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims fly from the temple and back in two private helicopters daily via Sanjichhat.
