The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered a high-level inquiry into Friday’s clashes in Kishtwar in which two people were killed and 30 others were injured. Kishtwar district continues to be under curfew for the second day today.
The Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Kishtwar district were both transferred last night following the clashes between the two communities.Deputy Commissioner Mohd Saleem has been transferred to the General Administration Department and he will be replaced by Basheer Ahmed Khan while SP Sunil Gupta was shifted to the DGP’s office and his place has gone to Sanjay Kumar Kotwal.
“It is hereby ordered that Jammu Divisional Commissioner Shantmanu is appointed to inquire into the incidents of violence and arson and the consequent loss of life and property that took place in Kishtwar,” General Administration Department (GAD) Secretary MA Bukhari said in his order and added that the inquiry officer shall submit his report within three weeks. Interestingly, when all this was happening the state Home Minister Sajjad Ahamd Kitchloo too was present in the district headquarters.But no action has been taken against him so far.
BJP has called for Jammu Bandh today. All the educational institutions in Jammu province is closed for a day.
