Even as border residents are grappling with day to day problems as their stay inside the relief camps is getting prolonged politicians too have started playing politics to win support base of displaced border residents ahead of the Assembly polls in J&K.
Following in the foot prints of Ghulam Nabi Azad PCC Chief Prof Saif Ud Din Soz Sunday reached border areas of RS Pura and demanded backward status for areas falling under the 5km of radius of International border and the line of control.
Soz on sunday also made public that the provision of 5 marlas plot and other basic amenities in such areas have been recommended by State Govt., besides providing of financial assistance at par those killed in militant related incidents.
Before Prof Soz BJP MP and MOS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh had assured border residents that the centre govt is working on the compensation package to come to the rescue of displaced border residents. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah too has been making regular visits to the border areas to ensure they do not face hardships.
Interacting with media persons PCC Chief Porf Soz reiterated the demand of the party for declaring 5 Kms. Area along the International Border and LOC , as backward area for benefit of reservation.
On his arrival in Jammu Soz visited Govt. Medical College Hospital Jammu to meet the injured persons because of border firing.
Prof. Soz went to the Medical College Hospital from Air Port accompanied by senior leaders of the party to enquire about the condition of injured people. Principal Medical College Dr. Ghansham Ved and Superintendent Dr. Ram Rattan briefed Prof. Soz about the condition of the injured persons and the treatment & other facilities being extended to them.
Prof. Soz asked the Hospital Authorities to provide best Medicare facilities to the injured persons. After enquiring about the availability of funds for the purpose. Prof. Soz offered to provide an amount of Rs.10 Lac out of his MPLAD for provision of essential medicines and medical facilities for their proper treatment and recovery.
Soz strongly condemned the Pakistan firing resulting into loss of precious lives and injuring a large number of people in the recent days. He said that border firing has brought miseries and sufferings for the people and there is immediate need to implement comprehensive plan for their safety and security of lives as a long term measures for such situations.
He said that Congress party has always advocated the cause of border residents like providing of alternative accommodation in safer zones for these border migrants.
Prof. Soz also took review of the relief measures for the rains and flood affected people and demanded the Govt. of India should immediately provide adequate funds as recommended by State Govt. in order to rehabilitate the affected people of Jammu and Kashmir. He regretted that so far Central Govt. has not declared it as Natural Disaster.
