J&K Police, security forces geared up to ensure incident free Amarnath Yatra

It is our duty to counsel misguided youth

Infiltration down compared to previous year

Director General of J&K Police K Rajendra saturday claimed that the state police along with paramilitary forces are fully geared up to ensure smooth conduct of the annual Amarnath pilgrimage beginning June 28 via Baltal route.

Interacting with media persons on the sidelines of a function in Jammu, DGP said adequate deployment of para military troops has been made from Lakhanpur to Baltal to ensure incident free Amarnath yatra.

He said the centre has provided us adequate forces to conduct the incident free yatra. He said the overall security situation in the state is improving and the level of infiltration has come down compared to previous year.

Commenting on the possible threat from militant outfits K Rajendra elaborated even though there is no specific threat to the yatra from any militant organisation this year  the security forces and the state police is leaving nothing to chance.

 He said we have beefed up our defences adequately to ensure smooth yatra.

Commenting on the over all security environment in the state DGP claimed by and large the security situation in the state is peaceful. He said during the last two days he reviewed the security situation along the borders and crime situation in the region and expressed satisfaction.

 He said compared to last year the level of infiltration has come down. He said around 10 militants managed to infiltrate inside the Indian territory till date.

He said we have got very sound intelligence system and we are in a state of high alert to defeat any nefarious design.We are also prepared to handle any sort of emergency in a suitable manner, he added.

On the issue of extending amnesty to stone pelters in Kashmir valley K Rajendra said, It is a continuing process. Our job is to counsel them, to a great extent it has helped us. He added it is our job to counsel the misguided youth and put these boys on track wherever they have gone astray.
