Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday recognised the fact that majority of people who are adversely affected by the flood fury along river banks are those people who had build illegal structures and now paying heavy price for the same.
Addressing a press conference at his official residence on Saturday evening Omar in response to a question admitted the fact that illegal constructions under the nose of various state govt agencies had compounded miseries of common people as many of these buildings flattened in the flood waters were illegally constructed.
He also admitted that this has happened in both Jammu and Srinagar and people are now paying heavy price for the same.
Commenting on whether his govt will take any action against the violators Omar played safe and only announced his resolve to ensure minimum illegal construction was done in areas which are flood prone in future.
Omar Abdullah also claimed that due to floods there should be no change in the schedule of Assembly polls in the state.
