A 31 year old youth picked up from the Jammu railway station in connection with the mysterious fire incident involving Shalimar and Ahmedabad express at Jammu railway station on sunday is suffering from Parkinsons disease for past several years.
The GRP wing of the state police has also admitted that the youth identified as Ajay Kumar hailing from Rajinder Nagar in Nangloi area of Delhi is physically unfit and is finding it difficult to cope up inside the police custody.
Meanwhile, Rajinder Singh, father of the arrested youth Wednesday appealed to the Government railway police authorities to expedite the investigation in the case and punish the real culprits.
“My son is innocent, he has nothing to do with the fire incident at the railway station”, Rajinder Singh said here on Wednesday.
Though the GRP authorities have set up a SIT to investigate the fire incident but it is still clueless and working on important leads in the case on the basis of information gathered from different sources.
Interacting with the media persons outside the GRP police station in Jammu, Rajinder Singh said, his son accompanied his cousin Deepak Kumar and reached Jammu on sunday morning. Deepak had to originally appear in a written test examination organised by the Indian army on May 27 at Pathankot. Rajinder Singh produced relevant documents including roll number and call letter of the Indian army , valid prescription of the GB Pant hospital from where his son is receiving treatment for over 20 years.
Singh said, since the youth were traveling a day in advance they reached Jammu on sunday morning and after paying visit to the local market and Raghunath temple they reached Jammu railway station to board a train enroute Pathankot around 5.00 p.m. Rajinder Singh claimed, after some time when his son Ajay Kumar went inside one of the toilets of a train stationed on the central line of Jammu railway station he noticed flames of fire in the same bogey. He claimed Ajay went inside the toilet of the train to save Rs 5.
Rajinder Singh claimed, my son has informed me that while he was struggling to douse the fire inside the bogey he was spotted by one of the railway employees. According to GRP police, the railway employee has alleged that he had seen Ajay Kumar running out of the burning train. On preliminary investigation even the GRP authorities admitted that records produced by the father of Ajay Kumar show that his son is handicap and is availing the concession as handicap youth. The police officers maintained that pending inquiry in the case they are regularly taking Ajay Kumar to Gandhi Nagar hospital for a medical check up to ensure his safety.Meanwhile, Rajinder Singh has also submitted an application in the court to ensure early release of his son from the police custody.
