Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General KT Parnaik Monday claimed that the Indian army had not compromised its defences or dismantled any structures at the time of resolving the face off with the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) in the Daulat Beg Oldi sector in Ladakh.
Addressing a media conference in the Northern Command headquarters on Monday, Lt Gen Parnaik said,”The disengagement and de-escalation at Depsang/DBO was done without any compromise. No structures were dismantled by us,” Lt General Parnaik said.
On the situation in Pakistan and its relationship with India Lt Gen Parnaik said, it is too early to comment on the issue.
He said,I welcome the statements made by the newly elected Pak premiere but at the same time it is better we adopt wait and watch policy as it is difficult to rely on the statements unless we know the real intentions.
He said it is all very well known that the intelligence agencies, army and others enjoy clout over Pakistani government and in the coming days it would be interesting to see how Nawaz Sharif manages to handle them and carry them along. He said in that context we should adopt wait and watch policy.
He maintained that the terrorist infrastructure remains intact across the border and their intention is to somehow revive the graph of militancy in the state. He also expressed concern over the entry of educated youth in the ranks of militancy in the state and blamed rapid radicalisation for the trend.
