Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, also holding the charge of school education department along with his colleagues in the council of minister saturday took cover under the umbrella while tiny scholars, assembled here to welcome the VVIP Ghulam Nabi Azad were left out in the open to brave the brief spell of shower and chilly weather conditions.
Ahead of the arrival of Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for the unveiling ceremony of Indira Gandhi’s statute at Indira chowk, Jammu it started raining. The JMC officials and other arms of official machinery swung in to action and distributed more than dozen umbrellas to the personal staff of VVIP’s present there.
Ironically, not even a single umbrella was distributed among the school children, dressed in school uniform.
For about half an hour or so the personal staff of the ministers including Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand were seen holding umbrellas to cover them and save them from the rain.
The senior state govt officials could not care much for the school children and the poor children were left unattended in the rains. When Azad arrived on the scene the weather gods relented a bit and it stopped raining. On his arrival Azad unveiled the statue and dedicated it to the people of the state.
