Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami Friday contradicted Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram claiming that till date he has not received any report which has blamed Bajrang Dal for inciting violence in Kishtwar in which three people were killed and over 30 others were injured.
Addressing a press conference after visiting the International border near the Octroi post in Suchetgarh area of RS Pura sector the Union Home Secretary said he has not received any report as late as Thursday evening in his office. “I have not heard anything about such a report. Let me go back and check whether there is any report,” Goswami told reporters.
He was responding to a direct question whether the Union Home Ministry has received any report from the Jammu and Kashmir govt or any other Intelligence agency blaming Bajrang Dal for stoking violence in Kishtwar.
It may be mentioned that media reports had earlier claimed that Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram had informed the cabinet on Monday that the intelligence agencies have informed the govt about the role of Bajrang Dal activists in stoking violence in Kishtwar.
The Union Home Secretary also attended a high level meeting at the frontier headquarters of BSF and reviewed the prevailing situation along the International border. He said the morale of the jawans is high and they are maitaining a tight vigil along the IB to defend the border.
Later in the day interacted with senior officers of the state govt and also reviewed the law and order situation in the state.
Interacting with media after holding a meeting in the office of chamber of commerce Anil Goswami said during the day he interacted with senior state govt officers and took review of the present situation.
He said, “I have noted down all the feedback and after returning to New Delhi I will sit with my team in the Home Ministry and examine the details.” He said soon we will take necessary measures and deliberate on other options.
