The war of words in the faction ridden state unit of the Congress party has almost reached point of no return over the issue of purchase of spurious and sub standard drugs.
Interestingly, every one in the Congress party from PCC Chief Saif Ud Din Soz both the congress ministers, Sham Lal Sharma, Taj Mohi Ud Din, who are engaged in mud slinging and sitting MOS Health and Family welfare Shabir Khan have made statements and clarified their position in the matter to clear the air but it is Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who is silently watching the developments from the sidelines.
During the recent budget session when the war of words between the two congress ministers took ugly tun after PHE minister Sham Lal Sharma raised the issue of certain irregularities in the PHE department headed by Taj Mohi Ud Din CM Omar Abdullah had reportedly told a senior NC minister, let them fight among each other. why should we intervene. It is between them”.
But as skeletons keep tumbling out of the closet it is high time the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah should take control of things.
On Friday Srinagar was closed down in response to the bandh call over the same issue. The doctors association there is also spearheading a campaign against the purchase of spurious and sub standard drugs. The local media in Kashmir valley is prominently feeding stories seeking timely action against all those people who were responsible for the purchase of spurious and sub standard drugs. Merely taking action against the drug supplier is not enough. All those senior functionaries of the state medical education and health department who were part of the purchase committees should be held accountable and action should follow immediately as per law of the land before it is too late.
