Three months after announcing a high level committee to look in to the modalities for transfer of land under the occupation of army the state govt has now set up nine member committee under the chairmanship of state Chief secretary. The nine member committee has been given the mandate to look in to the issues related to land held by army at Gulmarg, vacation of land at Tatoo ground and re-notification of Tosh Maidan Field Firing range.
Earlier on November 12, 2013 the state chief minister had announced setting up of committee to re-examine the issue of short term extensions while chairing a civil military liaison meeting.
The state govt had made administrative secretaries of Home, Forest, Revenue, Tourism departments as members of the committee. Representative of Northern command (not below the rank of Major General) and Principal Director ,Defence Estate Northern Command,Principal Chief conservator Forest Department and Div Commissioner Kashmir are also members of the committee which has been directed to submit its report in three months time.
According to official sources,”the Committee shall work out the modalities for transfer of 176 acres of land which is under the unauthorized occupation of Army at Gulmarg , in lieu of the land to be exchanged for Tattoa ground Batamallo.
The committee shall also suggest viable options including short term lease and relocation of the Tosh Maidan field firing range. The committee shall submit its report within a period of three months and shall be serviced by the Home department,official sources said.
