Jammu Kashmir elections 2014-PDP-BJP-National Conference-Congress

First phase of campaigning coming to an end yet no political party has released party manifesto

With less than 24 hours left before the campaigning comes to an end for the first phase of polling on 15 Assembly seats in the state but not a single political party has come up with its election manifesto. Starting from Congress and BJP, even regional political parties National Conference and Peoples Democratic Party have issued their party manifesto listing their agenda before the electorate.

Ironically, leaders of all the political parties have been targeting each other over issues being raised by them in their election speeches but they have been let down by their own parties in the absence of party manifesto. BJP leaders kicked up a storm by raising the contentious issue of Article 370, renaming of the state of J&K as the state of Jammu,Kashmir and Ladakh but the party is yet to publicly issue its manifesto.

Same is the case with the congress party. Star campaigner of the party and chairman of the election campaign committee Azad while addressing a press conference in Jammu two days ago listed high points of the party agenda before the electorate but could not spell out the exact date of release of party manifesto.

The status of regional parties is even worse. Both the mainstream parties in the state  often blame each other of raking their favoirte slogans of Autonomy and self rule but this time they have been shying away from making mention of these issues.

Neither the PDP nor the NC has announced any programme of release date of party manifesto.
