After defeating Ghulam Nabi Azad in the Lok Sabha polls Dr Jitendra Singh has been entrusted with the job to oversee Rajya Sabha polls in Jammu and Kashmir to ensure defeat of congress stalwart so as to fulfill the dream of ‘Congress Mukt’ J&K.
According to highly placed sources in the BJP MoS, PMO Dr Jitendra Singh Thursday addressed a meeting of BJP legislators and few other senior leaders where he discussed the strategy to ensure defeat of Azad in the Rajya Sabha polls.
According to informed sources, BJP leader claimed that party high command is keen on utilising the services of PDP patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed to win over the support of Kashmir based Independent legislators to ensure victory of all four candidates of BJP and PDP combination.
PDP and BJP have fielded two candidates each after reaching an understanding that they would be fighting the Rajya Sabha polls together. PDP with 28 seats and BJP with 25 seats are sure of winning thtree Rajya Sabha seats but have to ensure support of independents from Kashmir to defeat Ghulam Nabi Azad.
According to inside reports BJP leaders are scheduled to meet Mufti Mohd Sayeed on January 31 to discuss the poll strategy.
