Ever since Dr Farooq Abdullah has been shifted to London in connection with his ill health the party machinery was issuing statements in his name to make his presence felt in the Kashmir valley in the run up to the Assembly polls.

But in the last two week sever since the state of J&K is grappling with the flood situation and saw death and destruction on the streets of Srinagar no one in the National Conference has spared an effort to issue a statement on behalf of Dr Farooq Abdullah expressing serious concern over the ground situation.
In the absence of Dr Farooq Abdullah the old horses in the party and the party cadre failed to get their act together and mobilize party machinery at the grass roots level to reach out to the affected population.
While Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was seen shuttling between the Srinagar airport and his make shift residence in Hari Niwas Palace the entire cabinet barring few ministers remained crippled and could not gather enough courage to lead the rescue operations. The image of Omar Abdullah distributing relied material all by himself is a clear indication he was all alone when he needed the support staff and key aides.
