Two days after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah played perfect host and treated party leaders from Jammu province, senior ministers, leaders belonging to women/youth wing at his official residence today it was the turn of Provincial President of Jammu province Devender Singh Rana to host Chief Minister at his private residence.
Though not many leaders were invited but selected close aides of Chief Minister were present at the residence of National Conference leader in Gandhi Nagar area.
According to reliable sources, “trimmed down version of Chief Ministers cavalcade consisting of SSG security cover arrived at the residence of DS Rana escorting Omar Abdullah” late evening.
Rana received Omar at his door step with open arms before venturing inside. The house interiors were tastefully decorated to welcome the Chief Minister.The security guards were seen making rounds outside the residence of the National Conference leader.
In the coming days Chief Minister would be spending maximum time in the summer capital and DS Rana, after being entrusted with the new responsibility in the party office would be camping in Jammu. It is no political secret that the two enjoyed a healthy working relationship and sit together during brain storming sessions.
Earlier in the day both the Chief Minister and Devender Singh Rana had boarded the army helicopter and visited Bani, Lohai Malhar and Dubian in Kathua district and addressed series of public meetings. According to official sources, the state information department toiled hard to make arrangements for these public rallies. Chief Ministers secretariat had issued directions to various agencies to make adequate arrangements ahead of the public rallies.
Sources said since the venue of all the three rallies were located in far flung areas the employees of the state information department had to cover the long distance on foot. The nearest road connectivity was about 14 kms away from the venue of the rallies, sources said. The permanent camera team of Chief Ministers office also skipped the event as CM was traveling in a 4 seater helicopter requisitioned from the army by the state government.
