Congress out on the streets to organise party functions in Jammu

The leaders of the state unit of the congress party came out on the streets in the heart of Jammu city on Monday to organise an open air show, steps away from the official residence of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to welcome the new entrants in the party.

Pradesh Congress committee chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz, Congress MP Madan Lal Sharma, senior party leaders and new entrants prominent among them Mohd Aslam Goni, Thakur Balbir Singh, Murtaza Khan, Zahida khan were also present on the occasion.

The function was organised to welcome the new faces in to the party fold and to do the honors the congress party could not find any other better place but the middle of the road outside the party office. The security men  remained on their tenterhooks throughout the function as it was difficult for them to keep a tight vigil on the movement of suspected people in the crowded market area.

Ironically, the congress office located in the Shahidi chowk area is not big enough to accommodate big gathering of party workers and leaders.

In the absence of selection of any other venue the party was left with no other option but to organise a street show to welcome the new faces in the party fold.

In contrast the party office of National Conference at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan is spacious enough to organise such political functions and other gatherings/meetings.

The BJP office located in Kachi Chawni area is also big enough to organise inhouse functions and can accommodate large number of people without disturbing the normal flow of traffic or people in the vicinity.

PDP office located in the  Gandhi Nagar area is also relatively big enough and often party meetings are organised outside the lane of the office without disturbing the flow of traffic. Panthers party, JKDF and other party units also organise their party functions without disturbing the normal life and within their own premises.
