President JKPCC Prof. Saifuddin Soz has said that Congress is a secular and unifying force to keep the unity and integrity of the state and a befitting reply to the communal and divisive forces in the state.

Addressing a public meeting at Akhnoor today, Prof. Soz said that Congress has secular and progressive agenda for the state, which strengthen the unity and integrity of all three regions and made the state to march on the path of peace, progress and overall development of all three regions. He said that centre government has provided liberal funding for the development of the state, as a result three regions are witnessing development and creation of infrastructure in different spheres of life.

Cautioning the people against the designs of communal and divisive forces, Prof. Soz said that such forces pose a threat to secular fabric of the state and the nation. He said that Congress has always projected and promoted the interests of all sections of the pluralistic society of India, as this country belong to the people of all religions and faiths, but certain forces are indulging in the politics of hatred and divisiveness which will harm the unity and harmony in the country.

He referred to the party’s struggle for incorporation of 73rd Amendment in to the State Panchayat Raj Act and said that it further empower the Panchayat Raj Institutions in the state and sought the recommendations of the Congress party which should be accepted with out any dilution.

Prof Soz also referred to the demands of different categories of Refugees and said that the comprehensive package for their upliftment, welfare and redressal of genuine demands yet to be forward by the state government to centre for financial package, although the centre government is quit positive to extend financial support. He urged the government to immediately forward relief and financial package to the centre government.

He also referred to the recent steps taken by the centre government for Minority Status to Jain Community and OBC Status to Jatt Community and said that he has taken up the demands of Jatt Community of J&K State with Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.

Prof. Soz said that Congress stands for equitable and empowerment of all three regions of the state and referred to the role of Congress party in the creation of Administrative Units for justice to all parts, so that the Administration reachs to the people at their door step. He appreciated the people of Akhnoor tehsil for their whole hearted support to Congress party and praised the qualities of Mr. Sham Lal Sharma for effectively representing the voice of the people in cabinet and following the agenda of the party. He also lauded the efforts of Member Parliament Shri Madan Lal Sharma for taking keen interest in the development of his Lok Sabha Constituency and taking up issues of various sections of society at the state and central level.

Prof. Soz said that, he recently met the Union Railway Minister alongwith MP Madan Lal Sharma and took up the issue of railway line project between Jammu-Poonch and said that the project of rupees 13612.81 crores is under examination of the Union Government.

Earlier, Mr. Sham Lal Sharma welcomed Prof. Saifuddin Soz and other senior leaders of Pradesh Congress Committee and highlighted various achievements of Congress party in the state and area. He asked the people to give a befitting reply to the communal and divisive forces in the coming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections and expressed confidence that Congress would emerge stronger in all three regions of the state. Member Parliament Shri Madan Lal Sharma, G. N. Monga-MLC, Kuldeep Raj Verma-Vice Chairman OBC Board and Smt. Indu Pawar-MLA also spoke in the meeting.
