More Industrial Units registered in Kashmir,while More Employment Generated in Jammu: CAG

Even after registering 2346 more industrial units in Kashmir province as compared to Jammu during the last five years the total employment generated was far less in Kashmir than Jammu province,the recent CAG report has revealed.   According to the report, 3829 industrial units were registered in Kashmir province as against 1483 units in Jammu between 2007-08 and 2011-12.But when it comes to generation employment Kashmir province fell behind Jammu.   According to the CAG report  the total employment generated in Kashmir was 18062 while Jammu generated 20318 during the same period.The average employment generated by each industrial unit in Kashmir province ranged between four and five and in Jammu province ranged between 11 and 16.   Overall 5312 industrial units …

Where is Maharaja Hari Singh park?

A year ago on April 1,2012 Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and his loyalists in Jammu had organised a big show of strength in the under construction Maharaja Hari Singhji park.  Speaking  on the occasion Union Health Minister in the company of Dr Karan Singh, son of Maharaja Hari Singh, had said the park would prove to be a boon for the people of Jammu city and tourists as it would be developed as joggers park. Omar yet to hold monthly Cabinet meeting in any Remote District of Jammu Division

Ten months ago Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had proudly announced on the micro blogging site that he will take his cabinet to Tangdhar in North Kashmir. “This week I take the Cabinet to Tangdar in North Kashmir. Once a month we will meet in a remote part of the state. Gurez, Machil and Keran”,Omar had twitted on May 26,2012. Property of Indira Gandhi’s Yogic Guru gathering Dust in Mantalai

SKUAST failed to Install Research equipment worth Crores: CAG

The Comptroller and Auditor Genera(CAG)l of India in its latest report has exposed the inefficient working of the authorities at the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology(SKUAST),Jammu.   According to the CAG report, SKUAST procured various high-tech equipment at a whopping cost of 6.12 crore between 2005-2008 for use by different departments of the university.   The equipment were to be used for facilitating research and for imparting practical trainings to students undergoing various courses in the university.   During the audit scrutiny of records of the university it was revealed that after the receipt of 18 equipment no serious efforts were made by the University authorities to install and make them functional with the result that all the …

Red beacons, other accessories can’t be invasive in a democracy

In a welcome observation, the Supreme Court has censured the explosion of red beacons and sirens on VIP vehicles throughout the country. It has fittingly noted that excluding top constitutional authorities, and emergency services such as ambulances and fire brigades, there is absolutely no justification for others to display such symbols of state power. The widespread use – and misuse – of red beacons exemplifies a political culture that has been thoroughly corrupted by the perks of political office.
