Woman pilgrim hit by a landslide enroute Mata Vaishno Devi Cave shrine

Hit by a shooting stone on her head a 43 year old pilgrim from Lucknow died  enroute Mata Vaishno Devi Cave shrine near Sanjhi Chat late Tuesday evening. According to official sources, “following heavy rains and landslides near Sanjhi Chhat a woman pilgrim hailing from Lucknow was hit by a shooting stone and succumbed to her fatal injuries near Panchi Morh”. The woman has been identified as Daya Devi, official sources said. One Day RTI Awareness Program held at Reasi

Today, Youth Brigade Welfare Society organized one day RTI awareness program  for the general public where around a hundred people attended the program. Monkeys living life King Size on Jammu Kashmir National Highway

Monkeys are living life ‘king size’ on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway eating what ever they can straight out of the hands of passing by pilgrims heading towards the holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi.   Pilgrims, traveling in their private vehicles and those on board public transport buses normally offer bread, banana and other eatable items including Gur (jaggery) and ‘channa’ (roasted chickpea) to the simian population.   Even though the monkeys get to eat alot but there is an element of risk involved too. Some monkeys pick food items in time and safely reunite with their parent group to enjoy the feast. Pilgrims flock Katra to perform darshan of Mata Vaishno Devi

With  thousands of pilgrims flocking Katra base camp of Mata Vaishno Devi shrine  during Navratra festival the horse capital of this  holy township is brimming with activity.   Every where you see colourful horse heads decorated with flowers and musical brass bells greet you as you begin an uphill climb.   For ‘ponny wallahs’ who own these horses it is just  the beginning of a long summer season ahead as large rush of pilgrims have started trooping in the Katra township.   The economy of the region is totally dependent on the flow of visitors/pilgrims during the peak season.Last year more than 1 crore pilgrims performed darshan inside the holy cave giving a fillip to the local economy.   As …
