‘Earthquake Tourism’ is fine but what happened to the distribution of relief material to the needy and poor in Doda

Between May 1 and June 9 a large army of political leaders from both the centre and the state have visited the quake hit areas of erstwhile Doda district but till date the poor and the needy survivors are waiting for the distribution of relief material. An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale jolted the Doda region in  which 3 people were killed, over 70 were injured  and at least over 70,000 structures including large number of govt school buildings and health centres suffered damages. Ironically, till date the state and the centre govt have failed to reach out to the people on ground zero. Slap Gate: Tallest Minister in Omar’s Council of Ministers grounded by Court Order

One of the tallest members of the Omar Abdullahs council of Ministers, Sajjad Ahmad Kitchloo, presently holding the charge of MOS Home was grounded on Monday  by a court order which directed the SHO police station Kishtwar to register an FIR against him in the sensational slapping case. Kitchloo had reportedly slapped CEO of Kishtwar Development Authority on April 18 inside Tourist Reception centre in the presence of senior administrative and police officers ahead of the visit of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Politics of Relief package for Quake hit Districts grips J&K Govt

After series of aftershocks rocked quake hit hilly Doda and Kishtwar districts now politics of distributing relief material and sanctioning aid for the affected people has taken centre stage adding to the miseries of affected people. Omar adds another feather in his cap: Crime cases recording a Northward trend in J&K

Omar Abdullah led alliance government may have been basking in the shining glory of bringing down the number of cases  related  to militant violence but on the other hand the graph of criminal cases is recording a northward trend in the state much to the discomfiture of police authorities.   A report prepared by the state Home department has revealed that in the year 2010 a total number of 25272 criminal cases were registered across the state. 2 missing youths traced by Kishtwar Police

Kishtwar Police and Army (8RR) in a joint operation traced out  two youth reportedly missing from their houses and were found  in Keshwan area of P/S Kishtwar  on the intervening night of April , 15 & 16 2013. They have been identified as Ashiq Hussain (25) S/O Nassullaha Hajam R/O Nagnigarh Keshwan and Akther Hussain (21) S/O Ali Mohd Hajam R/O Pathna Keshwan Reports said  that on April, 12th, 2013 the family members of the youth alleged that  perhaps their wards namely  Akther Hussain and Ashiq Hussain have been took away  believed by militants along with them by force to be inducted into the folds of militancy. Burglary in Kishtwar. Traders held protest, observed complete band.

A group of unidentified burglers decamped with costly electronic items worth over rupees 40 lakhs from an electronic shop “ A.D Agency” situated at ever busy chowk at Bus Stand Kishtwar less than 100 meters away from the house of MOS Home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo, beside only half kilometer from Police Station Kishtwar. The buglers after committing the burglary set the shopping complex on fire as a result of which property worth over one corer got badly damage.
