Omar orders judicial enquiry into Kishtwar Violence

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said the state government has decided to order a judicial inquiry into the communal clashes in Kishtwar district that left two persons dead and 20 others injured. “In order to establish the truth behind the Kishtwar violence and what followed, the State Government has decided to order a Judicial inquiry,” Omar tweeted. The Chief Minister said the inquiry will be held by a retired judge of the High Court and its outcome will be made public.”The inquiry will be held by a retired High Court judge in a time-bound manner to establish the facts and share them publicly,” he said. The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered a high-level inquiry into Friday’s clashes in Kishtwar in which two people were killed and 30 others were injured. Kishtwar district continues to be under curfew for the second day today. The picturesque Kishtwar district headquarters, famous for producing saffron, witnessed worst kind of mayhem that too on the occasion of EID as one civilian lost his life and over 30 others were injured. More than 100 shops, over 30 vehicles, several prime properties, petrol pump, gas agency office were also ransacked and torched  by the rioters after attending EID prayers. Atleast repair damaged School Buildings to save Children in Doda, Kishtwar

More than three months have passed when an earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale shook the erstwhile district of Doda and left more than 490 school buildings damaged in the area. Doda residents continue to wait for the relief/rehabilitation package, pinning all their hopes on PM’s visit to Kishtwar

More than fifty (50) days have passed and  both the state and the centre govt are yet to provide much needed relief material to majority of quake it residents across Doda district. After seeking a central assistance to the tune of Rs 607 crore from the centre govt the state govt, till date, is waiting for the formal sanction of the relief and rehabilitation package. In the absence of any relief material the residents are forced to spend sleepless nights under the cover of plastic sheets over their heads as most of the  houses in remote villages of Doda belt have suffered extensive damages. Rahul Gandhi cancels Doda visit due to ‘bad weather’

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Chenab region has been cancelled due to bad weather and has arrived now in Srinagar. Rahul Gandhi landed at Air Force Station Udhampur today where he was received by Air Vice Marshal Jasbir Walia, VM VSM, Air Officer Commanding Jammu & Kashmir, and Group Captain Devendrea P Hirani, Station Commander Air Force Station Udhampur and other civilian dignitaries.
