Nine days after the worst ever riots took place in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, accompanied by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi visited the refugee camps of riot victims and consoled the victims while promising strictest action against the guilty. Minority community in Kishtwar continue to observe shutdown in protest

Despite brokering peace in Kishtwar on Wednesday the state government Thursday failed to instill enough confidence among the members of the minority community to throw open their closed down shops for last 14 days. Ironically, immediately after the curfew restrictions were lifted at 8.00 a.m the shops belonging to  the majority community were thrown open and markets were abuzz with activity. In total contrast the markets dominated by the members of the minority community remained closed in silent protest. The minority community members were unhappy with the approach of the district administration in resolving the stalemate. The members of the minority community were taken for a ride by the All Party delegation dispatched to Kishtwar by the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to broker a peace deal in the wake of violence on August 9. The members of the minority community under the banner of Sanatan Dharam Sabha Monday once again demanded thorough CBI probe in to incidents preceding the Kishtwar violence on August 9. The members raised their demand before the high level all party delegation which arrived Kishtwar to cool down the tempers of the angry residents. Union Home Secretary Anil Goswami Friday contradicted Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram claiming that till date he has not received any report  which has blamed  Bajrang Dal for inciting violence in Kishtwar in which three people were killed and over 30 others were injured.
