In a major embarrassment for the Jammu and Kashmir police Assistant Returning Officer, Kishtwar Mohd Hanief Malik Sunday directed the Station House officer, Kishtwar to lodge FIR against Superintendent Police, Kishtwar for allegedly misbehaving with him and creating hindrances in the discharge of election duties.  According to official sources, Assistant Returning Officer  vide letter no ARO-51-K/2014/230-37 dated 20-4-2014  directed the SHO, Kishtwar to lodge FIR against Sanjay Kotwal, SP Kishtwar as he misbehaved with him at the time of discharging election duties. SC directs J&K Govt to book culprits of Kishtwar violence

The Supreme Court today directed the Jammu and Kashmir Government to ensure proper investigation of all cases arising out of communal clashes in Kishtwar last year and asked the Commission of Inquiry set up by the State Government to submit its report on the incidents within three months. A 72-year-old ex-Armyman died here today allegedly after he was thrashed by three policemen, triggering protests in the area, prompting Jammu and Kashmir government to order a probe and suspend a Sub-Inspector. Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar, Baseer Ahmad Khan ordered a magisterial enquiry, and directed SP, Kishtwar, to place Sub-Inspector Madan Lal under suspension in connection with the death of Raja Ram in Kishtwar district, officials said.
