Omar gives nod to Rs 200 cr proposal for sports stadia revamp Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today gave nod to the construction of state-of-art stadia in the twin capitals by converting the Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar and Jammu’s MAM Stadium into modern, international-standard sports facility. “Rs 200 crores special package for the development of sports infrastructure approved by the Centre should be taken best advantage of developing sports facilities of international standard,” he said while receiving on a proposal to this effect at a high-level meeting here. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the 240-Megawatt Uri-II Hydro Electric Project (HEP) located near the Line of Control in Baramulla district of Kashmir. The Prime Minister dedicated the power project to the nation in presence of Governor N N Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and top officials of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC). This is the second power project on the Jhelum river in Uri area and is located downstream of 480-MW Uri-I HEP, which is already operational.
