Workshop on HBNC held Infant mortality coming down in JK: Shabir

Minister of State for Health, Mr Shabir Ahmad Khan today  said that better Health services have helped to bring down the Infant mortality rate in the state, while steps are also afoot to create adequate infrastructure to make available Neonatal care facilities at all  district hospitals to check the newborn deaths.             “Infant mortality rate has come down  from 35 in 2006 to 32 in 2011 but there is a need to make available  adequate  neonatal care facilities to avoid the newborn deaths”, Shabir said at a day-long workshop on ‘Home Based New born Care (HBNC) ASHA Module’ organized by J&K National Rural Health Mission here today. J&K ERA commences work on Rs. 26.75 crores State of Art Multilevel car parking facility in Srinagar

Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency (J&K ERA) today started work on the construction of multilevel mechanized car parking facility in Srinagar city at Lal Chowk (KMDA Adda).             Work on the state of art multilevel car parking facility which is first of its kind in the State was today started in presence of Chief Executive Officer, J&K ERA, Mr. Saurabh Bhagat. The project is estimated to cost Rs. 26.75 crores and will be spread over an area of 3472 square meters and includes construction of five level automated puzzle type mechanized parking facility along with three storied commercial complex comprising of office space, public toilet and commercial space (shops) for rehabilitation  of KMDA office and other shopkeepers presently existing at site. …

Council conducts screening of Thang-Ta team

State Sports Council today conducted the screening of the J&K Thang-Ta team, heading for Federation Cup to be held at Dhanbad in Jharkhand, here. The screening committee which cleared the state contingent included Joint Secretary (Kashmir), Prof Bashir Ahmad, Sports Officer, Qayoom, Siraj-ud-Din, Tabasum Gillani. Now, the selected boys and girls shall proceed for the venue for the competition to be held at Jharkhand from April 21 to April 24. The selected players out of the Federation Cup shall represent the country in 2nd Asian Thang-Ta Championship to be held at the same venue. Cabinet approves 35 posts in JKSWRRA

The State Cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah accorded sanction to the creation of 35 posts for J&K State Water Resources Regulatory Authority (JKSWRRA) for its effective functioning. The State Cabinet accorded sanction to the promotion of Ms Pushpa Devi, Director, J&K Funds Organization, a Member of the J&K Accounts Service to the Super Time Scale of the service Rs. 37400-67000 Grade Pay Rs. 10000 with effect from 12.03.2013. More Industrial Units registered in Kashmir,while More Employment Generated in Jammu: CAG

Even after registering 2346 more industrial units in Kashmir province as compared to Jammu during the last five years the total employment generated was far less in Kashmir than Jammu province,the recent CAG report has revealed.   According to the report, 3829 industrial units were registered in Kashmir province as against 1483 units in Jammu between 2007-08 and 2011-12.But when it comes to generation employment Kashmir province fell behind Jammu.   According to the CAG report  the total employment generated in Kashmir was 18062 while Jammu generated 20318 during the same period.The average employment generated by each industrial unit in Kashmir province ranged between four and five and in Jammu province ranged between 11 and 16.   Overall 5312 industrial units …
