Emergency supplies to Jammu stepped up

Dr Harsh Vardhan assures J&K of full central support Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Health Minister, has asked for additional consignments of emergency medicines to be despatched to Jammu where the destruction of property and marooning of people has acquired great proportions. After reviewing the situation in the region during a day-long tour today, the Minister said various kinds of antibiotics, oral rehydration solution sachets, anti- diarrhoeal drugs, chlorine tablets, bleaching powder, medicines for eye and skin infections, IV fluids and other essential drugs will be sent within the next few days. “We have already despatched a large quantity of medicines over the past week but on seeing the needs there myself, I feel we have to boost up the stocks …

#JKFloods: Over 1.42 lakh People Rescued So Far By Armed Forces

Water Suction Pumps And Generator Sets Transported To The Valley Over 1,42,000 persons have been rescued so far by the Armed Forces and NDRF from different parts of Jammu & Kashmir in the ongoing rescue and relief operations in the flood ravaged State. Thirteen tonnes of water purifying tablets and six water filtration plants with a capacity to filter 1.2 lakh bottles per day has already reached Srinagar. Engineering stores including suction pumps from Vishakhapatnam have reached to flood affected area. Twelve sewage pumps from Delhi have also been dispatched to the valley. The Jammu and Kashmir government has not extended the lease of Kalith firing range in Jammu, biggest in the state, leading to halt in firing practices by jawans here, army officials said. “There is no firing practice taking place in Kalith firing range after the expiry of the lease in June 2014.
