34,753 illegal electricity connections regularised in J&K

Replying to Ghulam Nabi Monga, Vikar Rasool Minister of State for Technical Education and Power in the J&K Legislative Council on Saturday, said that “during the current financial year ending January 2013, as many as 34,753 illegal electricity connections have been regularised by PDD”. The minister said that as far as action against wrong doers is concerned, same is being taken as per stipulations of J&K Electricity Act 2010. “Fine as admissible under rules (relevant J&K SERC traffic and Supply code regulations) is being imposed against the erring consumers and illegal connection holders,” he said. SKUAST failed to Install Research equipment worth Crores: CAG

The Comptroller and Auditor Genera(CAG)l of India in its latest report has exposed the inefficient working of the authorities at the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology(SKUAST),Jammu.   According to the CAG report, SKUAST procured various high-tech equipment at a whopping cost of 6.12 crore between 2005-2008 for use by different departments of the university.   The equipment were to be used for facilitating research and for imparting practical trainings to students undergoing various courses in the university.   During the audit scrutiny of records of the university it was revealed that after the receipt of 18 equipment no serious efforts were made by the University authorities to install and make them functional with the result that all the …

Kashmiri Hindu Shrine Bill in Cold Storage again

Much to the chagrin of Kashmiri Hindu migrant community Omar Abdullah led coalition government on Friday put the Kashmiri Hindu Shrine bill in the cold storage by referring it to the select committee of the lower house. Traffic signal lights functional in Jammu city: Sadhotra

Replying to a Calling Attention Notice, by Mr. Vijay Bakaya, Minister for Planning and Development, Labour and Employment, Mr. Ajay Sadhotra, on behalf of Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies Minister informed the House that in Jammu city 30 traffic signal lights have been installed and all are working smoothly.
