817 licensed weapons deposited: Rajendra

To ensure incident free and smooth conduct of the Lok Sabha polls the law enforcing agencies  have started working on the ground zero. In 2008 the state government had conceived a project ‘construction of an Indoor complex/Rifle shooting range-cum open play field’ at Nagrota in 2008-09. To raise the infrastructure  70 kanals of land situated behind Sainik School was identified and the matter was taken up by the Director General Youth Services and Sports Jammu with the CV, Jammu Development Authority. Jammu: Pak prisoner Showkat Ali committed suicide in the wee hours

A Pakistani inmate today allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself inside the barrack in district jail Ambphalla in this winter capital of the State, police sources here said. “Pak prisoner identified as Showkat Ali, (42), resident of Sialkote, Pakistan this morning during wee hours at around 0300 hrs hanged himself inside the jail premises and ended his life,” police sources here said. They said he was lodged in the jail since 2011 under Foreigners Act and was arrested by the Police from Arnia Sector along Indo-Pak international border. “The matter is being investigated,” police said.
